Volunteering Opportunities

"Volunteers are always welcome at the Cape Cod Horticultural Society."

Our small workforce of Grumpy Old Men and Gorgis Gals at Armstrong-Kelley Park on Main Street in Osterville meets weekly to keep the Park in peak form.

The AKP-- both the oldest and largest private park on the Cape—is a beautiful eight and a half acre site of specimen trees, walkways, trails, gardens, Liam’s train, a Japanese Koi Pond, and memorial benches and boards.

Gardeners of all levels of experience are needed. We’ve got the tools and plants, what we need is more hands-on-help. Not interested in getting your hands dirty? You can help us with events, membership drives, and more.

Gardeners normally meet Thursday from 9-12 during the growing season and 12:30-3:30 during the winter months.  Alternate work schedules are available. If you’re a working person, consider “adopting” a small area that you can maintain on your schedule.

Beekeepers are needed to assist the Park volunteers. We have the bees, hives, protective gear and all the peripheral tools and materials. What we need is your expertise and a little time to tend them. Although bees throughout our area have fallen on hard time these past few years, we are still hopeful we can produce honey and sell it in the Fall.
